WOW… what else I can say about these amazing stories. I'm really impressed to how different each plot has been the first three books. This one had me engrossed with the image of our heroine Ailish being a blind tough kickboxing witch. Although, it didn't seem to keep her from being sliced and diced almost to death. The suspense and danger, the good versus evil, felt true to life. And, the emotional battle for both Phoenix and Ailish made this feel like a realistic story. And, that's saying something when it's a paranormal romance fairy tale.

Ailish... My heart hurt for this character. She suffered her entire young life. And, at the ripe old age of twenty-three, eleven months, and two weeks she came home to die. Powerful strength of character in this heroine.

Phoenix... I came to understand this character. And, Phoenix this guilt ridden man, well, love ennobled him. Very swoon worthy.

The moral... Good always wins over evil.

This story held me in suspense waiting for the outcome of two things. Of course I knew there would be a happily ever after, but how that would play out held me tight. At one point I found myself saying "Come on Phoenix, what would Chuck Norris do?" Didn't these hunters know about bazooka's?.... LOL....

In all three books all the men have been self-sacrificing loving alphas, but only Sutton has captured my heart so far.

The ending in this story was an emotional ride, making it an excellent read! Now, on to book 4.

Blood Magic A Novel Jennifer Lyon 9780345506344 Books Reviews

This is the first book in the Wing Slayer Hunter series and starts the series off on a really good foot. Earth witches, the good witches, and their protectors, the Hunters, were subjected to a curse by Demon witches, the evil witches, 30 years ago. It caused the earth witches to lose their familiars and they have been unable to perform the higher levels of magic ever since. All Hunters now crave witch blood and many give in to their craving and bloodlust by killing the earth witches and spreading their blood on themselves. This causes them to become "Rogue" Hunters and to become the tools of the Demon who initially aided the demon witches in throwing the curse, having renounced their God, "Wing Slayer", by their actions. The Rogue Hunters lose the lifelines on the palms of their hands and further lose their souls, so that if they are killed, they simply drift in the "Between" without ever gaining access to the Hunters' version of Heaven. In addition, their appearance is altered so that they gain huge bulky muscles but at the cost of assuming feminine attributes.

A group of Hunters have re-dedicated themselves to their God and have become known as the Wing Slayer Hunters. They continue to protect the earth witches while battling the temptation to give in to the bloodlust and they take it upon themselves to kill the Rogue Hunters that have taken the earth witches' lives. Each of these Hunters had birds tatooed on their chests and/or backs. Although Axel Locke was tatooed with the image of a raven, it mysteriously changed to a hawk, which is Wing Slayer's image and the other Hunters believe it indicates that Axel is the leader of the group.

Axel's 4 year old sister has fallen victom to a Death Curse cast by a demon witch and it's up to him to save her. He tracks down a witch, Darcy McAllister, to remove the curse. The only problem is that Darcy had no idea that she was a witch, having been brought up by adoptive parents, and has no idea how to go about removing the curse. What follows is the story of the growing attraction between Axel and Darcy, her frantic attempts to learn more about her magic so she can save Axel's sister, and what happens to open her magical pathways after she and Axel share blood and sex and discover that they are Soul Mirrors. Fortunately, Darcy has the help of her best friend, Carla, who is an accomplished witch herself.

This book has plenty of action and drama, humor and poignancy that brought tears to my eyes, as well as the underlying mystery concerning the curse and that concerning the head of the Rogue hunters and the demon they serve. It also has a wonderful romance storyline that develops between Axel and Darcy and the blessings they receive from Axel's God.

There are very few spelling and grammatical errors in this book, but it does contain profanity, violence and very graphic sex. Some readers will be put off by the profanity, which is too bad because they're missing a good book. In my opinion, profanity today equates to the hecks and darns of earlier years and hopefully can just be skipped over by those that are offended by it.

Finally, one reviewer I read recently indicated that they were suspicious of reviewers that only gave 5 star ratings. To understand how I review the books, music and movies I've read, heard and seen, I find that almost all of my reviews fall under two categories; the first are those I really loved and I generally gave them 5 stars, with an occasional 4 star; the other are those that I really disliked and I generally gave them 1 star (you can't give 0 stars), with an occasional 2 stars. If I'm just ho-hum about the item, then I'm not going to take the time to write a review. However, in reviewing a series, I may rate the first book and not bother with the other books. For example, I'm now on the 5th book in this series, which is the latest book published in this series to date. Since we'll have to wait for book 6, I'll probably write a review for book 5, but not the others, even though they have all had great storylines and furthered the ongoing deciphering of the underlying mysteries.
I loved this book. At first I was hesitant because the hero was looking to turn out like a sleeze ball who screwed every girl he sees, even after he met the heroine he had thoughts to sleep around with other females but to my relief he didn't. Thank God, or my review would be completely different. This story had in my opinion a very unique twist and even though had a some what cliffhanger ending it was still wrapped up enough to leave the reader with a good understanding of what's to come and didn't feel just cut off or unfinished. At the end it did get super cheesy but by then I was totally into the story and it didn't bother me. It does have sexual scenes but I felt like it was tastefully done and not overly detailed. The characters were very lovable and the writer was able to create an emotional attachment for me. I really felt the love between the hero and heroine develop and why they were perfect for each other. It's not very often I feel compelled to read other stories that aren't free in the series but this one I might have to. I really want to know about the other witch hunters and their "soul mates". Plus of course I want to know how they defeat the evil demon, or rogues. All in all it was a very satisfying read I stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish it. If that doesn't convince you to give this one a try I don't know what will. I tip my hat to the writer, you have a new fan.
