*** Hannah Howell has always penned historical romances I have always enjoyed, but when a friend of mine pointed me back in her direction with Howell's newest fantasy series of the Wherlocke family who came with special gifts of seeing futures and detecting lies - I was totally intrigued. AND after reading IF HE'S WICKED - I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of this marvelous series.

It is not too often I've been shocked by the greed of people, both in reality and in fiction, but as seen in the Prologue of IF HE'S WICKED - a mother who allows her infant child to be placed in the arms of a dying woman in the hope that he would die as well has got to be one of the coldest and most horrid cases of a mother I have ever witnessed since Steinbeck's East of Eden! [Not a spoiler as this is discussed in the beginning of the book] All that aside, I was totally immersed in Howell's tale and loved every bit of it especially Chole who was a like a breath of fresh air! The dialogs between Chloe and Julian were great and the sensualness that was built into their relationship was lovely. However, Leo's comments to Julian once he knew Chole and Julian had done the `deed' was classic - "like rabbits". Nope, you're going to have to read the book to discover exactly what that phrase means!

Bottom line: I totally loved IF HE'S WICKED and am all set to buy the rest of this series and truly hope it goes on forever! Fantastic series - fantastic family!

This is my first book by this author, but definitely won't be my last. I started out with the audible version & quickly switched to the book form (that's another review entirely). The characters were fun & interesting & the plot predictable, but very enjoyable. This was a quick & easy read without a lot of angst & some places I just laughed out loud. I loved a number of the secondary characters & hope to see them in future story lines. In all, it was a fun & enjoyable read.
I have just discovered the Wherelockes and the Vaughn's and I love them I have bought every book so far in the series and I can't wait until October til the next. Couple years ago I would not read any of miss Howell books and now I love them your taste changes with age what you wouldn't read when you're younger is brilliant now yeah for growing up
The is a perfect start to a brilliant series you'll get hooked and can't wait to read another. Wonderful.
Again Hannah Howell has brought an exciting and thrilling adventure in her writing. She has given us characters who have depth, strength, and adversity. This story has it all. I found myself was wanting to do damage to both the uncle and wife. Life is hard no matter what era you live in and to survive you have to overcome great odds. This telling has the right mix of family, betrayal, danger, and greed. I want to say so much but to do that would give something away and I would not want to spoil any of the story. This I would say is a MUST READ!
Absolutely fascinating and enjoyable read! I have always loved Hannah Howell's writing, so creative and entertaining, with strong, identifiable characters. I listened to the audio book as well and Ashton did a nice job with the various accents. I don't want to spoil the reading for you, but I will say that if you love romance combined with paranormal, you should dearly love this series!! I certainly would recommend any of Hannah Howell's books, but I just started this series and adore it. In fact I went immediately to make sure I had the rest of the series. Great book that transports you through time to an exciting and unique adventure! 😊
Wherlocke- Vaughn series
Ok so I already love love love Hannah Howell's Wherlocke series and when I saw that both this one and If He's wild was available couldn't pass them up. My first Wherlocke book was IF He's Dangerous & reading them in order doesn't detract from them. The Wherlocke-Vaughns are a close knit family of cousins and sibling in Regency England that have magical powers. Love has eluded them but not sex; but the non-magic spouse cannot handle their powers and eventually leaves the spouse & children behind. THis generation is finding true love hich is good because as Leopold Vaughmn says, "wherlocke -Vaughns brred like rabbits."
I am IN LOVE with this series because it combines some of my favorite things! It combines historical romance, with some witchy/magical powers and a mystery as well! If you love any of those three things then you need to read this book/series so you can fall in love with a wonderful story! I love that this story has this crazy amazing story line that draws you in and never spits you out until the end of the story because it was such a great read. Hannah Howell does an amazing job of creating this world that is a mix of aristocracy a crazy insane murderous mystery, some awesome powers that let people into the minds of other and some wit every now and then. The powers the Wherlocke's and there cousins the Vaughn's have are something that we all think about in real life and to see it (okay read about it) is so cool and I love reading all about it.
