I wanted to love it, I really did. But for some reason it just didn't click with me. The characters were too mercurial for my taste.
Loved the story abt what happened with them in high school and how it turned around and brought them together again in the future. Good characters, good writing, good plot. Lots of reasons to read and enjoy! I recommend.
I can't believe this is Lulu's second book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Mark and Rose. The book had me laughing out loud. The background of the radio station was perfect for setting up these two to meet again. I really loved the background stories of both Mark and Rose.
As someone who works at Yankee Stadium, nothing does my heart better than reading about my second home and my favorite team...even if the player is fictional (I could have done without the mention of that one player, but whatever)
The story of Mark and Rose was very well written. I LOVED the dialogue between the characters as well as the steamy scenes that took place. A really great read indeed!!
Mark and Rose can't catch a break.
They knew each other (and turns out they liked each other) when they were at high school. But high school cliques aren't friends to people who exist outside their circle, so hatred and loathing develops between them.
Years later, when they are forced to work together, their chemistry is still as strong as ever and soon enough no where is safe from their maulings - the DJ booth, the back of his car, storage closets.
But Mark's a Yankee and has no anonymity. It also means, there are people out there who not only love to see the dumb multimillionaire jock fall, but also benefit their own careers in his wake.
The best part for me was Rose's sassiness in the beginning - she wasn't going to roll over and forget all the hurtful, hateful things that had been said through the years, no matter how many charming smiles Mark throws her way.
Rose Taylor is Manager of an Alternative Rock Radio Station. Trying her best to keep it out of bankruptcy and all the employees employed. I just love her personality, her confidence and sense of style. She is her own person and she owns it.
Mark Carrington is a super star major league baseball player. He is super hot and knows it. But he also has a deeper layer that he is a super nice guy and will do just about anything for anyone. We get to see more and more of that as the story goes along.
Marks gets himself in trouble and to redeem himself he has to work as the Radio Station for six weeks. The problem is Rose and Mark have a high school history. Both of them have a different take on how things ended but both their hearts were broken.
It doesn't take long to realize time has no meaning in feelings and attractions. These two get very hot and steamy.
Their interactions while they are on air at the radio stations are absolutely hilarious and Mark's responses to his haters had me in tears because I was laughing so hard.
I just knew that when a book starts off with a pre-work orgasm that this was going to be a great book. It did not disappoint me. In fact I read this book straight through as I couldn't put it down.
The author has a great way of pulling all the other characters into the book too. I loved that this story was told by both Rose and Mark.
This book is very well written and I consider it a 'must read'!
Mark and Rose had a thing in high school, until they didn’t. Nearly a decade later they cross paths again, both angry at the situation they are in because they each think the other one screwed them over. The more time they spend together, the more they heat up, until finally the two fall back into a relationship. But outside forces are working to keep them apart. Question is, can they overcome them?
I liked the dual POV from both Mark and Rose. My big gripe is there seemed to be multiple arcs within the story that seem just kind of swept under the rug. Between the whole Tommy thing and the actual “why” the two had a falling out in high school lacked any sort of meaningful resolution. I liked the book, I definitely liked the whole radio/alt rock thing (I met my husband when we were DJs at our campus station, I have a soft spot) and the current day heat between Mark and Rose was hot, I just feel like there could be “more”. This is a new author to me but I will definitely pick up her other titles.
