I picked up A (kinda) Country Christmas last year in December and because of an influx in Hallmark Christmas movies, I kinda let it slip through the cracks for reading. So I was actually delighted when my Christmas reading desire hit (it happens every year about this time) and I had this novella on hand to enjoy on the short term.A (kinda) Country Christmas introduces us to Sadie, Mari, Nate and Kendra. Sadie is the owner of a sweet little Christmas boutique in Gatlinburg, Tennessee (can I just say I love a book that gives me a little getaway). She basically lives, eats and breathes Christmas. She is a single mom who has devoted her time to her child (Mari) and that boutique. She has been so busy with those responsibilities that not much else has gotten through. It is time to shake up her little world and shaking happens in the when Nate enters Gatlinburg in order to visit his little sister Kendra.
A (kinda) Country Christmas starts off a little awkward (just a little bit) but then it flows into something absolutely beautiful. It is a sweet story that fully makes you care about not just Sadie and Nate but her daughter Mari and Kendra too. I am delighted that there will definitely be more novellas to read that will involve these characters.
It is a sweet Christian romance with more than just having a character show up at church. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Sadie and company.

A kinda Country Christmas A Christian Holiday Romance A Romanceish Novella Book 1 edition by Krista Phillips Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed the characters on the story and the way the story played put from a disaster upon meeting to the meddling in between. I am definitely going to get the next one on the series! I got this book for free and am voluntarily giving a review.
Sadie Jenkins grew up with parents who played Mr. and Mrs. Claus and ran a Christmas shop year ‘round. She’s devoted her adult life to her daughter, Maribell, who’s now eighteen. When Nate Mayers comes to Gatlinburg to visit his sister, Sadie's whole world begins to change, whether she’s ready for it to or not.
I fell in love with this delightful novella. The characters were well-developed, the story different enough to be engaging, and the writing had a smooth flow. The only mistake I found was “here” for “hear.” I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I recently discovered Krista Phillips writing and have quickly become a big fan! She writes with spunk and depth - a wonderful combination! Flawed, relatable characters who's lives reveal God at work in their midst. This is a Christmas treat for sure!
Be sure to read the story of Kendra (Nate's sister) in "A (Sorta) Southern Seranade" which was the first I discovered of Krista's writing. It can be found in the compilation of stories in "Falling For You" book. It too is a laugh out loud, light novella that packs a great message. I'm starting on Krista's "Sandwich" series next and I can't wait!
This is an enjoyable read with a cup of tea and a fire side. A sort of sad beginning with a great ending. The young girl looking up her biological dad and finding him and his new family.
A true loving Christmas story.
Sadie loves Christmas, but doesn’t know if she wants to continue living it 365 days a year. Providing for her daughter keeps her moving forward day by day. Nate breezes into town to visit his sister and a mishap puts him on Sadie’s avoid list. If only his sister would get the drift. Lovely story and easy to get in to. I really liked Mari. Wonder if we’ll see her featured in some other story by this author.
This was a quick yet sweet read about a man who changed his life after tragedy struck, but still hasn't settled down, and a woman trying to make a living while navigating parenting as a single mom. It's funny, it's romantic, but it also has a great message about surrendering regret, and letting go of those we love and let them fly. I really enjoyed this, a great Christmas-time read!
I love Krista Phillips’s books! This was a delightful novella set in Gatlinburg, Tennessee at Christmastime. The story brings together a city-bred man who isn’t too keen on Christmas decorations and a small town single mom who owns Bethlehem Botique and lives and breathes Christmas all year. Just the right touch of humor makes this an enjoyable inspirational read any time.
